They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. Well, think of eye shadow as the perfect bit of window dressing while the Tony Hakim Fashion Lovers team show you how to best display your merchandise by letting you in on what eye shadow colour to wear.
Before picking a colour, however, make sure you’ve planned out your look. If you’re going with a bold lip colour then keep your eye shadow relatively neutral. Whereas a strong eye make-up pairs well with a nude lip.
Your eye colour is also a big factor when it comes to picking an eye shadow colour.
Stay away from blue eye shadow! You want your eyes to pop, not blend in. Instead try cool pink or purple shades for a contrasting everyday look. If you want to be a little more daring, then try earth tones such as browns with a purple base. You can add in some slate greys or soft blacks for extra drama.
Brown eyes can get away with wearing pretty much any eye shadow colour, but greens, plums and pinks tend to work best. Deep shades of blue can also provide a beautiful contrast for this eye colour. Brown shadows can be a popular choice as well, just make sure the shadow is significantly lighter than your eye colour.
This eye colour doesn’t really need much help standing out so sweep on some light pinks or browns with red undertones. Some darker shades of purple would also pair well with green eyes.
The best way to accentuate hazel eyes is to go significantly darker with your eye shadows. So pull out those dark browns, charcoal blacks and eggplant purples and layer them on. If you want a more subtle look then try mocha browns and other earth tones with some gold mixed in to pick up the highlights in your eyes.
No matter what colour you end up picking to make your peepers pop, remember that it’s going to take a little bit of experimentation before you get a look that you love. So relax, try new things and have some fun with your make up.
